A Free Community Concert

FODfest is an annual concert tour honoring the life & ideals of the late Wall St. Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who lost his life to terrorists in Pakistan in 2002. In addition to being a journalist, Danny was a talented musician who played a variety of instruments including fiddle & mandolin, and was a classically trained violinist. Wherever he lived, Danny was actively involved in the local music scene, and wherever he traveled, he sought out local jam sessions. FOD is an acronym for Friends of Danny and the concert tour features many of the musicians who played in bands or jammed with Danny while he was alive, as well as many who never knew him but connect with his story. FODfest is a unique performance format: part song-swap, part jam session, part concert. Most of the participating musicians are meeting for the first time on stage. Danny was a firm believer in the power of music to bring people together regardless of ethnic, religious, cultural, or economic differences. FODfest celebrates that ideal and takes place every October as part of Daniel Pearl World Music Days which is organized by the Daniel Pearl Foundation. FODfest is in its fourth year and is organized by musician, songwriter, and producer Todd Mack, a former band mate and close friend of Pearl’s. The concerts are open to the public, and in lieu of an admission charge, donations are collected at each performance to help offset tour & production costs. 413.229.9939 info@fodfest.org www.fodfest.org

Daniel Pearl World Music Days - An international network of concerts using the power of music to reaffirm our commitment to tolerance and humanity. Danny was a talented musician who joined musical groups in every community in which he lived, leaving behind a long trail of musician-friends spanning the entire world. Commemorating Danny's October 10th birthday, World Music Days uses the universal language of music to encourage fellowship across cultures and build a platform for "Harmony for Humanity." Hyim will add a dedication during his performance that affirms a commitment to tolerance and humanity and has registered his event with the World Music Days concert listings. The title track from Hyim's debut album, "Let Out A Little Peace," has been dedicated and can be heard on the Music Days website. www.danielpearlmusicdays.org

HYIM’S DEDICATION
Daniel understood music's ability to immediately transcend differences and provide a space for deep listening and collective creativity. In other words: music creates peace. I will be dedicating my performance on October 24 to Daniel Pearl. My song, "Let Out A Little Peace," is a song I believe he would be proud to be connected to. We all have a world that we want to see: a world where peace is commonplace and children are able to flourish unafraid. I did not know Daniel personally, but reading about him and seeing the amazing ways he continues to inspire people to work on behalf of this world we cherish is mind blowing. I have been blessed to have traveled to about thirty countries in my short life, and indeed music was the primary vehicle upon which I connected to the people I met. "Breath by breath, you must create this peace; and we will create this peace one by one. Accept our grief without vengeance and let this cycle cease." Daniel did that in his own way: word by word, story by story. He is a modern hero, and his legacy is clearly continuing to shape and change the world. For all of our children yet to come: selah, shalom, asalaam, namaste, paz, peace. Hyim
