The Electric Vandals proudly present the third annual Oakland Arts Clash.

The Electric Vandals, in cooperation with Attic Light Productions and the City of Oakland’s Parks and Recreation Department, and with promotional support from Oaklandish, Big Family Movers and the East Bay Rats, are presenting their yearly mixed arts festival at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Tickets will be $15, with the lobby reception beginning at 7 p.m.

Highlights of this year’s Clash include:
*Axis Dance Company, the award-winning mixed abilities dance troupe, currently celebrating their 20th anniversary
*Dimensions Extensions Performance Ensemble, a modern African youth dance company and an Arts Clash regular
*Hyim, the award-winning singer/songwriter and Oakland native who can be heard on local radio
*Halau O Keikiali'i, the South San Francisco based Hawaiian performing arts company
*Live Hip-Hop with local solo act Dub Esquire
*The rap/DJ duo Shawnee and Poetic, featuring live break dancing
*Aerial dance with Karl Gillick
*A modern dance performance by Oakland-based Dance Elixir founder Leyya Tawil
*A modern jazz performance with Antoine Hunter’s (of Savage Jazz fame) newly formed Urban Jazz Dance Company
*Oakland horn-driven rock and soul outfit Damon and the Heathens

The lobby reception will feature DJ Isaac Owen Money, and art installations by local artist Teilor Good.

Staying true to name, the Arts Clash will feature several of these groups performing simultaneously on the same stage. Artists and musicians intermingling and expanding the horizons of performance and art has been a dream of the Vandals since their inception, and this year’s festival will not disappoint. Being particularly tight-lipped about who will "clash" during the show, the only way to see what the Vandals are up to this year is to be there when the curtain opens.
