2004 IN REVIEW:
What's up all my peoples out there in the world? Without a moments wait, here is my manager's reflection of 2004's hylights. Check it out:

“Hyim is a formidable talent…a hippie child who grew up hip-hop, his music smoothly assimilates such disparate sources as Jamaican reggae, Cuban son, contemplative ballads, Mediterranean beats and urban DJ techniques.” – Joel Selvin, San Francisco Chronicle…the complete SF Chronicle Datebook feature on Hyim by Joel, acclaimed music critic…..

So now that you checked it out, did you click on “Sunny Day?” – new track from Hyim’s upcoming album – it will just brighten your day!

Did you also listen to “Hyim’s Happy Birthday!"?  This song is inspired by the song that Hyim wrote with classroom children when he was invited by the Bill Graham Foundation to go into a school for a special music project, "Say It Through Song.”
Enjoy!

*Music Awards ----
California has its own annual music awards celebration, and in 2004 the California Music Awards (CAMA) nominated Hyim and The Fat Foakland Orchestra for Outstanding Jam Band (The Dead won)…CAMA just didn’t know what to do with this
fresh new sound but wanted to honor HATFFO, so they put the band in the Jam Band category.  HATFFO was also invited to perform @ the event in June. “Hyim's mix…..funk, jazz, hip-hop, and emotive piano balladry tends to enrapture people. His more recently formed backing band, the Fat Foakland Orchestra, is packing East Bay clubs and scoring an Outstanding Jam Band nomination from the California Music Awards.” – Rob Harvilla, East Bay Express

San Francisco Weekly Music awards (October)…and Hyim and The Fat Foakland once again rocked the Bay Area.  Hyim’s title track from this current CD, “Let Out A Little Peace” was chosen to be #3 on the SF Weekly Music Awards compilation CD. “The Hyim experience is soulful and uplifting, an infectious blend of rock-your-body
funk and heartfelt vocals.” – SF Weekly Music Awards 2004  (scroll down)

Return engagement to the High Sierra Music Festival – Main Stage…Relix Magazine caught Hyim there which led to his “Spotlight” feature in the November issue.…”Hyim – Hebrew for “life” – self-produced his debut Let Out Little Peace. The album is a soul- stirring _expression of his dedication to global unity through music. It’s a pendulum of styles and feelings, swinging between sunny mento rhythms, spiraling Cuban son, urgent hip-hop manifestos, and pensive balladry—quite a sweeping achievement for a first outing….its most striking aspect is its profound emotional depth.  Hyim’s music holds a rare gravity…and it is clear that he possesses a grand vision” – Jonathan Zwickel, Relix

*Compilation CDs ---
In addition to the SF weekly Music awards compilation…”Let Out A Little Peace” is also featured on “The Revolutionary Compilation” for http://www.iwantchange.org …and “Get Your Head Out” (by Hyim a.k.a. MC HY) is track #11 on “Celebrate Hip Hop” – Jewish Hip Hop artists from around the globe –
