PEACE!

be grateful life has blessed you with this body.  recognize true & correct intention as the antidote to fear.  put this together, get creative, and come and shake your rear, b-cuz...

The May 24th function is going to be an AMAZING experience, a Bay Area talent powerhouse showcase. Here are some words about the other two groups:

CHIYAKARE:  directed by Julia Tsitsi Chigamba, plays a high energy showcase of powerful music and dance from Zimbabwe and the Southern region of Africa. www.chinyakare.org

FIYAWATA: A powerful Hip-Hop, Reggae, & Soul fusion group that has been opening up for major acts such as Dead Prez and others.  The dope live instrumentation give the viciously talented word smiths Ambessa and Zakia a platform that has been leaving audiences wide-eyed and booty-shakin'.

At the end of the night the three groups are going to join forces for a musical throw-down rump-shake-out!

YO!!, much props to the Berkeley Folk Festival!!!  Then ran a super smooth ship, the audience bought a gaggle of my cds, and the vibe their was super b-town energetic and emotive (nice word, eh?).  Thanks Leah for hooking that up and for the t-shirt!

Update on what's what:
i am shifting focus from finishing the Collection of Ballads Vol. I to getting geared up for the fabulous and renowned High Sierra Music Festival July 4th weekend.  In trying to do all this and handle music school and the rest of the music biz I got hella sick last week.  So the album will be finished in September (since I will be away from the studio in New York City for the rest of July--who whipped the Yankees recently??  da A's).  don't get persnickety...love love, it's all love my nyc fam.

so...i have learned an immense amount about this business lately.  Shadey sometimes, shadey.  oye.  i had a venue cancel on me at the last minute (i was in the car on my way there) after i had announced the event to my peoples (sorry if you came and saw the sign outside).  This place (not to name names) also wouldn't pay me for the gig as was understood if they cancelled.  yaowzahs! i was also offered a licensing deal on a song of mine by folks who turned out to be scam artists (thank you ASCAP--a songwriter's organization--for schooling me!!!).  experience leads to growth...so onward!!!
